The Magic Fruit 0.o

Ah, the wondrous acai berry. The acai berry is an inch-long reddish, purple fruit. It comes from the acai palm tree (Euterpe oleracea), which is native to Central and South America. Many believe that this is the key to being healthy and and awesome. This is because of all th legit scientific research being done about it.

One reason for all of it's super rad publicity is that it contains substances called anthocyanins and flavonoids. Anthocyanins and flavonoids are powerful antioxidants, helping protect the body from harmful free radicals that turn your hot body into a saggy prune. It also plays a role in the body's immune system. This is shown to reduce the chances of heart disease and cancers.

Another reason why everybody's raving about it is the fact that people have found that when eating (or drinking) the acai berry, they not only have exra nutrition in their diet, but they also lose weight. However, very few studies have been done to prove this fact.

But if not for the weight loss, you might want to try it simply because it has just about the highest antioxidant concentration of any fruit found in nature.

Anyways, it's Thursday. And I'm not about to crack the Rebecca Black joke. Ms. Young's been bagging on 25k for their "inappropriate" blog posts....maybe I should go check that ;) Also, TAKS TOMORROW EWWWWWW. Especially since it's math. I may not seem like it, but I am retarded at math. I'm an extremely visual person, and the only thing I can do in geometry is the net stuff. Numbers just don't work in my head. Are you the same?

Brittanie's Blog of Rebececa Black

Hey guys it Brittanie. I just wanted to let you know that it is THURSDAY!!!!! And you know what that means, I bet you don’t, IT MEANS THAT TOMORROW IS FRIDAY, FRIDAY, GOT TO GET DOWN ON FRIDAY!!!!. Hehe just kidding, but I wasn’t kidding about the whole its Friday thing. But it’s also good Friday so that means we don’t have to come to school tomorrow. YAYY!!!!. So yeah I just wanted to let you know that just in case you didn’t know that, and I would also like to talk about Rebecca Black. As you know, everybody in school knows that song, and yes I know everybody hates it. I know, but I was reading online and even though people hate her, she is getting death threats. One said “don’t hate you because your famous, your famous because we hate you” And that was only a typical comment. Another said, “I hope you cut yourself”. Another said, “I hope you’ll get an eating disorder so you’ll look prettier, and I hope you cut yourself and die”. When I read this it makes me feel sorry for this girl. I mean, I don’t like the song either but that doesn’t mean I’m going to go out sending the poor girl some death threats. I mean that is way beyond crossing the line. She is even under police protection. So guys lay off seriously, because she is only t13, and I’m pretty sure you have better things to do in life then to pick on an innocent girl. I mean really, GROW UP!! And by the way she got what she wanted. I say this because she only wanted the song to be stuck in people’s head. And she got that, even if you do hate the song. :P

Some RAD Leads -.-

1. As a teenager, you always wanted to look like your favorite rockstar or celebrity. As an adult, Lauren Smith Ford has gotten as close as anyone can get to that dream. Lauren Smith Ford is a stylist, and has created outfits for many famous people such as INSERT NAME, INSERT NAME, and INSERT NAME. "INSERT REALLY AWESOME QUOTE ABOUT STYLING THESE PEOPLE," she explains.

2. A breeze rustles her hair as Austin stylist Lauren Smith Ford takes a seat at her cluttered desk in her office. While many other adults would have a desk piled with reciepts, files, and sticky notes, Lauren's desk displays a mix of designer outfits, celebrity profiles, and photos of her hard work's results on stage. "INSERT SUPER LEGIT QUOTE ABOUT HOW WORKING AS A STYLIST IS," she says. "INSERT SECOND CLAUSE FO REAL."

Yeah, I haven't actually interviewed her yet, but here are some ideas! :D

Descriptive- Mrs. Lee sat in front of the sewing machine; she concentrated on the task on hand. The rooms was dusty and on the floor where pieces of fabric. She loved her job and she enjoys making clothes no matter how intricate or how simple she will always get the job done on time.

Direct Quote- “It was as good as a business could get” Mrs. Lee said she has been in the sewing business for almost thirty years. She enjoyed her years of being a designer and seamstress; she loved meeting new people and learning the new experiences that her business gave her.

Contrast and Compare- Mrs. Lee never thought she would be a designer and a seamstress. She always thought she would forever be a housewife, until she moved to Honduras with her family.

Procrastination Sweeps the Nation

Hey, you guys! It's Rrrrania, here to update y'all on how my feature story's going. So we were supposed to interview our peeps like 2 weeks ago, however, for me, that never happened. As some of y'all might know, I'm interviewing a stylist named Lauren Smith Ford. So far, three dates have been scheduled and two have been missed. In fact, I still have not met her yet. We're thinking about doing it Sunday, and if not, I'll just be emailing her the questions and askin for her to send me a high-quality supermegalegit photo of herself (which will save like. five thousand hours of me typing the transcription).
Actually, I probably would have done so by now if not for the fact that I won't be able to structure my next question on the spot based on her last one, and I'll have to stick with what I previosuly came up with. AND I'm super excited about meeting her and interviewing her and taking a picture of her 'cause then I'll feel like some totes awesome journalist type. >:B
ON A LESS COMPLICATED NOTE, it's FRIDAY. PLEASE DON'T RUIN IT BY SINGING THE SONG.

Complications with Language

Ok, so interviewed my grandmother who is a retired designer and seamstress for my feature story. It was kind of weird to be interviewing one of your close family members especially when she can't speak English. So I had to translate everything and it was a pain, but I think it was worth it since i got to learn so much about my grandmother in her younger years. She also showed me her designs that are so beautiful.(pictures will be on the magazine.)

Hey Its for my feature :)

Hey guys its me Brittanie again. And guess what, today IS FRIDAY. Im pretty sure your all exicted too. Well anyways that wasnt what I was going to tell you about. What I was going to tell you about was about my feature story. I just wanted to let you guys and girls know that it is going great. This weekend I'm going to be sending my aunt an e-mail because I found out that my image was too pixelated and that it would look bad if it were going to be printed. So when I herd about this, I was sad :(. But now im happy because my group members helped my feature story look even better then it did before :). Other than that I think my fature story is forming up pretty well. I say this becayse last weekend I interviewed my aunt and she gave me lots of stories about the questions I asked her. So thats good :). One other problem I incountered was that I need more photos of her jelwery because the ones I have look too dedundent, and my group thinks that I should change it :(. But other then that my feature story is looking good. I already wrote down and transcribed all the interview and I think im ready for this. I also organized all my information into group in which I want to talk about them. So the stroy is looking good, even the layout looks good. But to honest, i think 25K looks pretty good. So if your reading this, go check out their layout. Im not rtryign to put anybody else down, its just the 25K is the only group that i have seen their layout, but i think you should go check out others peoples layout too.

Well thanks for reading this.
HAVE A HAPPY SUPER DUPER EXICTED FRIDAY
HEHE :)

ArM IS MiSsInG!!! Say What!!!

Hey guys it me again, I bet your all getting tired of reading my blogs, but that’s all good. I’m Sorry to tell you this but, I will have to be making blogs for the END

OF THE SCHOOL YEARS!!! YIKES. I know when I heard about that, I freaked out too. But that’s not the reason I’m writing this blog, the real reason is because I would like to tell and show you a small article I came over when looking around on the internet. It’s about the Retailer Ann Taylor. I was reading that they were trying to retouch some of the models for their magazines, and they accidently took off one of the models LIMBS. SAY WHAT!!! Yea you heard me, they took of the models limb, and it’s not just any limb it was her ARM. That poor poor arm will now be lost in digital world, just looking for its missing body to attach to. It has also been said that Ann Taylor hasn’t done this just ONCE, they have done it multiple times. SAY WHAT! I can’t believe that, they have done this retouching more than once. For the first incidence they got caught with was when they were “retouching” other models waste line. So when they did this, their models look really really skinny, like alien skinny. THAT’S SOME SCARY STUFF!
Well i want to think you for reading (if you read it)Thanks again readers!! :)

Thank you guys! ^_^

Thanks to all the people who took the survey. Sadly, however, Ms. Young decided my topic of "Austin's style" was too broad to write a good feature story about. I'll find a way to somehow integrate all the survey data into my new feature story. :/ SO I now will be able to interview an actual stylist down on 6th street! c8

As for this weeks blog post, I'm here to encourage you all to fill up on avocados! Avocados, as it turns out, have many health benefits such as cancer prevention, heart disease prevention, better eye health, stroke prevention, better nutrient absorbtion, lowers cholesterol, regulates blood pressure, and the list goes on and on!

Studies show that One cup of avocado has about 23% of the Daily Value for folate, a nutrient important for heart health and is shown to significantly lower the icidence of heart disease.Avocado has a rich source of monounsaturated fatty acids including oleic acid, which has recently been shown to offer significant protection against breast cancer. It also is now considered a diet food due to it's newly found weight loss benefits.

Fashion Cruelty

How can people kill cute little animals just for their fur? Almost 50 million animals are killed just for fashion. The animals that are being killed are being basically tortured before being killed and they don't even get to experience the freedom of being wild since most of them come from fur farms where they are kept in small filthy cages and give them little food until they are brutally slaughtered. I can't even call this fashion anymore it's just plain cruelty.

2nd blog about a review of a make-up called The Sonia Kashuk Lip Quad in Bronzey Corals and I Are Drugstore BFF’s

Hi guys, its Brittanie again. I thought I would tell you about a review I found on the internet. I know this doesn’t apply to some guys, so guys if you’re reading this, you might as well just close this page right now!!! :). Well in this interview about The Sonia Kashuk Lip Quad in Bronzey Corals found in drug stores, I found out this make-up is very good and last a lot longer than expensive non-lasting make-up. For example the eye liner is only $12.99 and so is the lip balm. I think that’s pretty cheap. I say this because I’ve herd of stores who sell their make-up for over $20.00. Just think about all that money you could be saving. Also the eye shadows are a lot cheaper too. Think about it, some of you ladies could be spending $17.99 on MAC eye shadow, while if you were to spend your money on The Sonia Kashuk Lip Quad in Bronzey Corals, you would only be spending $7.99. LOOK AT ALL THAT MONEY YOU ARE SAVING!!!! Now think about that deal. Look, millions and thousands of dollars that are being saved on make-up that could be put to better use. Now ladies, or girls, since you have read my blog, I’m hoping you can see those deals are out there, and they could be saving you lots of money.
Thank you for reading and I hope this made a difference.
Thank again

SILLY BANDS: Funny or a Replacement for a Bad Pickup-Line?

Hey guys I'm Brittanie, If you want to check out some cool stuff about silly bands, check out this link http://www.wallofstyles.com/2010/09/04/silly-bands-not-just-a-fashion-statement/

I was looking online and I found out that silly bands are a great way to hit on a guy at the same time making a new fashion statement. For example, a man was interviewed, and he said that he went out on a date with a girl and she gave him a silly band. He said that when he received the silly band, he felt important. He also said that when he goes around town people notice his fashionable silly bands. But as things are starting to progress, silly bands are starting to get worse. Silly bands are not only used to make a fashion statement, they are also being used at clubs and bars to make a love connection with somebody. New York Daily News says that “Adults on the prowl are using the colorful bands instead of bad pickup lines to make love connections.” As you can see, silly bands aren’t only used for children to go around showing off; they are also for adult to have personal close connections and attractions with each other. So if you see adults wearing silly bands think to yourself, are they trying to make a love connection with somebody, hit on a guy, or trying to make a new cool looking fashion statement?
Thanks for reading, I hoped you enjoyed

Lady Gaga :O

Who's the man?
Lady Gaga. JKJK but I'm gonna talk about this lady's outrageous different fashion sense.

Everyone sitting in front of their TV watching the Grammies was totes surprised when a group of people came walking down, carrying a large egg on their shoulders. Instead of a ginormous baby, however, Lady Gaga popped out. This just goes to show how CRAZAY loud her fashion statements are.

Out of all singers and actresses, Lady Gaga is one of the most well known, probably due to the items she keeps in her wardrobe. One of the most strange of these items is the famous "meat dress."

Check out this picture of the meat dress:
http://www.dailystab.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2010/09/lady-gaga-meat-dress-mtv-vma.jpg

Not only her clothes, but her hair is done up in a serious do, too.
http://i1-news.softpedia-static.com/images/news2/Lady-GaGa-to-Come-Out-with-Her-Own-Fashion-Line-2.jpg

To top it all off, she finished the outfit with some "outlandish" makeup.

The way she looks is definitely appropriate for the style of music she brings us.

RAH RAH RAH AH AHH. ROMAH, ROMAH MAH, GAGA OH LALA. WANT YO BAD ROMANCE.

High Heels leads

Christy N.

Leads
Rhetorical Question.
1.         Have you ever worn high heeled shoes and regretting it latter? Most teenage girls have including me, but latter they will probably say “but I got used to them” so they continue wearing them. You see high heeled shoes everywhere from your mom’s closet to the red carpet worn by Lady Gaga and other super stars. The influence makes us want to fit in so we wear them even though they are painful.

Narrative
2.    The pain was unbearable, the soreness, the stinging- I couldn’t stand it. I had to take them off but I couldn’t. I was standing in the middle of the line I was putting weight to my left feet then to the right and I was asking myself “Why did I wear my five inch stilettos?” you must be asking is all that pain caused by shoes? Yes it is first time wearers think they will get used to it in a few minutes but they are wrong the pain actually increases until it is unbearable.

Direct address lead
3.    Do you like wearing high heels? You might want to think again. Studies show that heels can affect your health. It can cause pain, soreness and even foot deformities. you would need foot surgeries or you would have problems walking.

muffinLeads #2

1. You’re in school hurrying to your next class, heels wobbling, skirt falling, when you notice a girl walking past. You do not notice her for her excruciatingly drab clothes, nor her blank expression, but for the angelic light radiating from her face. It looks suspiciously like those models you saw in Vogue last night. The skin itself was not shining, but rather, it was glowing. How is that possible? You decide to look it up that night and find that she was probably using a makeup product called Yves Saint Laurent Touche Éclat, a fancy and expensive highlighter. No, not a neon yellow highlighter, but a reflective foundation that is slightly lighter than your natural skin color that is applied with a brush applicator.
2. Myth: Anyone who wears foundation lighter than their natural skin color will look like a pasty-faced freak. Most uninformed people would disagree to this statement. However, you, my young reader, will become an informed person within a couple of seconds: what makes this myth a myth is the fact that there is such a thing as a highlighter! No, not for your notes, but for everything on your face you want to stand out.
3. Got a flat nose? Chubby cheeks? Is your skin a little too matt? Try a highlighter!

Skittles

1. Twist:
As Crystal Renn walks down the runway, she feels her stomach growling. She cant help but think that she shouldn't have missed out on lunch. She does everything that she can to stay skinny, but sometimes she feels like she just isn’t skinny enough. She begins to feel light headed, then it happens.................... She faints

2. Compare and Contrast:
Back in the 1960’s fashion models were glamorous and normal size, but since the 2000’s, fashion models have gotten skinnier and skinner. Fashion models now are skinnier than a tooth pick, maybe even smaller. If you were to look up “fashion models” or “skinny fashion models” in google, you would find all sorts of nasty looking models that starve themselves to look the way they do.

3. Startling statement:
Look through any fashion magazine. You see beautiful models, but look again. Do you see it? If you look really hard, you can see the bones of some of those models. Most of all the magazines that you have ever looked at or will ever read, will have these types of models. Doesn’t this make you feel like something is wrong with you because you don't look like this? Don’t feel bad, because five to 10 million Americans have eating disorders because they want to look like this. These magazines are pushing young adults over the edge to be skinny.
